The paediatric pharmacy team at Leeds Children's Hospital have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic, friendly, and forward-thinking team as the Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for Paediatric General Medicine.
To be successful you will be an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist who can lead and develop the pharmacy service within the paediatric general medicine team. This exciting and diverse role covers a variety of conditions within the Leeds Children's Hospital.
You will have a passion for making a difference to patient care and be committed to working collaboratively with both pharmacy colleagues and the multidisciplinary team. Paediatric experience is preferred but not essential and you would be supported by the team to develop knowledge in the area.
Main Duties of the Job
The post will give you the opportunity to be an integral part of the MDT. You will monitor and report on clinical and financial governance of medicines, advise on potential improvements and lead on these where appropriate. The role will cover areas of gastroenterology, diabetes and general medicine.
Education and training is integral to how we work as a team and you will undertake clinical supervision of rotational pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists and have an active role in the education and training of both pharmacy staff and other health care professionals.

Job Responsibilities
Job Purpose: To deliver and develop specialist clinical pharmacy services to the Leeds Children's Hospital within the Trust.
Job Dimensions: There are line management responsibilities attached to this post. Reporting to the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader, the post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to inpatients ward at LTH.
Core Knowledge and Understanding: Comprehensive knowledge of current government legislation relating to pharmacy and patient care, thorough understanding of medicine legislation, and specialist theoretical and practical knowledge in clinical pharmacy practice.
Principal Duties & Areas of Responsibility
1. Provide specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
2. Individual prescription review to optimise therapy.
3. Utilising patient medication records to support review of medicines suitable for use.
4. Advise on dosage and side effects.
5. Responsibility for medicines risk management.
6. Assist in the introduction of new drugs.
7. Organisation and planning of own workload.
8. Supervise, teach and assess junior pharmacy staff.
9. Participate in any medicines-related clinical trials.
10. Work within standard operational procedures.

Experience
Essential
* Substantial post-registration experience as a practising pharmacist.
* Hospital Pharmacy Experience.
Desirable
* Hospital Paediatric Experience.
