Are you known for your exceptional organisational skills and your ability to deliver first-class support?
This is a unique opportunity to join SCIAF as an Administrative Assistant. By providing administrative assistance across teams, you will play a vital role in supporting the team who manage our development programmes overseas.
About SCIAF
SCIAF is the official overseas aid and development agency of the Catholic Church in Scotland. Our mission is to enable the poorest to lift themselves out of poverty and work together to protect our common home, help people recover from disaster, and inspire people in Scotland to put their faith into action. SCIAF works in partnership with local and church organisations, supporting communities across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, to bring about lasting change. We reach out to those in need, regardless of age, race, or religion and believe in supporting the whole person, including their spiritual wellbeing, political voice, cultural and community life.
The Role
As a member of the Central Services team, you will contribute to the achievement of SCIAF’s vision and mission by providing administrative support across the organisation but predominantly to the Integral Human Development department and by providing excellent customer care to SCIAF’s supporters, prominently by telephone and occasionally by email.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong administration skills who can work autonomously, take ownership of projects and tasks, and consistently show initiative in moving them forward. Also essential to the role is a hands-on team player, willing to get stuck in. Previous experience of call handling will be a major advantage, as is experience of making domestic and international travel arrangements. You will have a can-do attitude and have a flexible approach to your role.
Safeguarding
SCIAF undertakes to ensure that all staff, volunteers, and relevant others, whose work might involve contact with children and vulnerable adults, will have completed additional recruitment procedures and have obtained a satisfactory PVG Check from Disclosure Scotland. All staff are required to adhere to a Code of Conduct which specifies the attitudes and behaviour that all staff are expected to maintain.
The Merchants House is one of Glasgow’s oldest charitable organisations with a history dating back to 1605. Today we make a positive impact on the lives and experiences of the people of Glasgow and the West of Scotland by providing grant support to, and partnering with, third sector bodies and by supporting individuals in need. The House manages substantial endowment funds, many of which have specific terms on the distribution of grants. Rental income is generated from the office suites of the Merchants House building owned and occupied by the House.
The present membership of the House is over 800. Up to thirty-six Directors, elected by the members, carry on the active work of the House.
The Head of the House is the Lord Dean of Guild, elected annually by its Members. The Lord Dean acts as Chairman of the House and delegates Convenorship of the different committees. The Office of the Dean of Guild ranks next to that of the Lord Provost of the City.
We are currently seeking applications from candidates to become Trustees of The House. A full role description can be found below.
CCT Development Officer Role and Responsibilities
Responsible to the board of trustees as a whole, line-managed by the chair.
The role of the CCT Development Officer will be to work closely with our trustees, members, volunteers, other community groups, public bodies, and the people of Crieff to deliver our key priorities and to help us make Crieff a better place to live, work, and visit.
End Vision and Outputs / Outcomes of the Role
CCT is a key anchor organisation in Crieff. Over the last 12 years we believe that CCT has proved we can really punch above our size and deliver for our community. The role of the development officer will be to coordinate the trust’s projects, take the lead on fundraising efforts and run the trust day-to-day, freeing up the volunteer trustees to work on the projects themselves. We are also currently seeking future funding for this role, as well as looking for funding to support our annual core costs such as insurance, accountancy, websites, Xero subscription, etc. which amount to approximately £8,000 per year. The end vision is that in 10 years' time CCT is thriving and continuing to work for the benefit of Crieff.
We are looking for an inspirational, dynamic, creative, hard-working thinker to become our first Youth Arts Coordinator.
You will have a passion for the arts and its transformational power on young people and places. Your natural flair for cultural administration, the ability to create and coordinate high-quality cultural programmes; combined with motivational leadership qualities, is what we need to deliver our vision.
The successful candidate will thrive on the challenge of ensuring long-term sustainability within the youth arts provision in Cumnock and Doon Valley, bringing industry-leading arts experiences and artists to unexpected places, and will have the courage to lead these projects into CAMPS’ next phase of growth and development without losing sight of our artistic vision, values, and history.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious self-starter to work with a small dedicated team, a supportive board of trustees, and a fantastic group of volunteers.
