Amazon UK's Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is vital to our operations, ensuring machinery runs smoothly at all times. As an RME Technician, you will maintain various equipment and workspaces while adhering to Health and Safety standards, helping to keep colleagues safe and minimize machine downtime. Our technicians enhance equipment availability and quality, contributing to a better operational environment.
Key responsibilities
1. Perform proactive and preventive maintenance on site equipment
2. Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
3. Utilize advanced tools to optimize equipment effectiveness
4. Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures
5. Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices
6. Participate in continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across EU sites
A day in the life
Based on-site, you will respond swiftly to machinery issues, conducting planned maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency. You will troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns promptly, suggest long-term improvements, and collaborate with senior colleagues on various maintenance tasks, including painting and plumbing. You may liaise with external contractors and work on different shifts to support our sites 24/7, enabling Amazon to meet its delivery commitments.

The RME team maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment across Amazon's global fulfillment centers. Comprising skilled team players led by experienced leaders, the team handles a range of technical tasks—from installing automated systems to ensuring legal compliance and operational efficiency. Our focus
We aim to minimize downtime in critical operations, ensuring timely customer deliveries. Maintenance is often scheduled during off-peak hours, including night shifts. Basic qualifications
* Completed a full engineering apprenticeship and/or qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering field (City & Guilds Level 3, SVQ/IVQ)
* Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
* Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
* Proficiency in the local language, both verbal and written
Preferred qualifications
Preferred qualifications are not mandatory but are desirable:
* Additional academic qualifications such as HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
* Experience in condition-based monitoring
* Experience working with print and apply machines
* Experience in fault-finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
