About the Role: As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students who require additional assistance in their learning journey. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and pastoral teams to ensure that all students receive the guidance they need to reach their full potential. Responsibilities of the Learning Support Mentor: Provide academic and pastoral support to students with a variety of needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges and social-emotional barriers. Assist in differentiating learning activities to ensure all students can access the curriculum effectively. Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement individual learning plans and behaviour management strategies. Offer one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions to help students improve their confidence and engagement in learning. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting respect and understanding among students. Encourage students to develop essential life skills and improve their self-esteem, motivation and resilience. Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour, using de-escalation techniques when necessary. Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents and external agencies where appropriate. Act as a positive role model, inspiring students to engage with their education and achieve their full potential. Requirements of the Learning Support Mentor: To be considered for this role, you must have: Experience working in education, youth work, mentoring, or a related field is desirable. A strong understanding of child development, behaviour management and pastoral care. The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A flexible and adaptable approach to supporting students with varying needs. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
