Job summary The post holder will be an integral part of the Interventional Radiology and Fluoroscopy team, working closely with the radiologists, radiology nurses, referring clinicians, radiology students and other associated radiology staff. They will also be responsible for the continuing development of other radiology personnel and student radiographers. The post holder will adhere to good practices of radiographic technique and abide by the acknowledged safe practices of radiation protection standards and trust procedure guidance. They will provide high quality radiographic images that will assist in patient diagnosis, treatment, and management of care. Main duties of the job The senior radiographer operates as a senior member of the intervention/ fluoroscopy multi-disciplinary team, working independently, using initiative, clinical skills, knowledge, and organisational skills to provide an efficient and high-quality imaging service, whilst dealing with patients and managing patient priority in a caring professional manner. The senior radiographer assists in helping to coordinate for their specific radiographic discipline. The senior radiographer encourages the highest professional and technical standards in all staff using personal example and constructive supervision. They will be responsible for ensuring all junior and rotational staff operating in their area of speciality are suitably trained, mentored, and monitored to prevent untoward incidents and ensure effective formal learning. The senior radiographer will maintain a commitment to professional development and a high level of technical and theoretical skills ensuring a personal CPD portfolio of evidence is kept up to date.
