Job Description:
Are you an experienced Hardware Engineer that would like to aid in the delivery of high-performance digital hardware that forms part of our self-protection systems and is installed on fast jet, UAV, land and naval platforms? If so, keep reading!
We are recruiting for Electronics Hardware Engineers to be part of various teams within the EW sector to support our next generation electronic platforms.
You will experience the full engineering lifecycle within Leonardo assisting with requirement and architecture definition and maturation, the design of new novel PCB level electronics and work with the wider project team to support integration and qualification of product.
What you will do
1. Designing high speed digital Printed Circuit Boards that utilise the latest FPGA, Microprocessor and high speed interconnect technologies
2. Supporting Engineers in developing requirements and architectures
3. Supporting the integration of hardware, firmware and software within your project
4. Supporting throughout the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis; through design, and unit test; to integrating hardware with the target system; and lastly to acceptance test and delivery to customer
5. Fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management, and providing plans and progress reports
6. Working within a multi-disciplined team of engineers to resolve technical issues
What we need from you
You really must have:
1. You will have either a HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree (Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Systems based) or you may just have lots of skills and experience gained through your hard work.
2. Knowledge of the stages required for an engineering development lifecycle
3. Familiarity with circuit design (schematic capture) layout and simulation design tools
4. Practical experience of Hardware, Firmware & Software Integration of Microprocessor Based designs
5. Practical experience of debugging, testing and verifying new designs
6. A methodical approach to the full hardware design lifecycle, working to a structured hardware process
7. Ability to schedule work and manage time in keeping with project timescales and budgets
8. Ability to attend the Luton or Bristol sites regularly for testing and integration activities where required.
It would be good if you had some of the following:
1. A wish to grow your experience in the many fields of electronics such as analogue electronics, power supplies and Digital communications
2. Experience of fast interfaces used in Electronics
3. Experience in FPGAs, Micro-processors, Memory and other High speed digital technologies.
