The Role
The Rosalind Franklin Institute is a national research centre, funded by the UK government through UK Research and Innovation, dedicated to bringing about transformative changes in life science through interdisciplinary research and technology. We are a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity based around several key scientific themes with a core operational support function.
We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to support Franklin’s growth and be a key member of our finance department, reporting into the Finance Manager and the Financial Controller.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Finance Manager you will:
* Provide support across the full remit of the finance department.
* Manage and mentor two members of the team.
* Provide analysis and general financial support to the Finance Team, assisting with the production and monitoring of budgets, cash flow reconciliations, supporting with month and year-end accounts and statutory reporting.
* Prepare payment runs and bank reconciliations.
* Prepare and manage of month end timetable to deadlines.
* Develop and provide cover for colleagues within the team.
* Provide business partnering support for members within science themes as well as the operations department to overcome problems and implement change.
* Make recommendations in relation to improvements and maintenance of internal controls and provide documentation.
* Review financial records for accuracy.
* Design and implement new processes and systems.
* Manage projects, as and when needed.
