The role

Do you think you have what it takes to help us make a difference? This could be the perfect time for you to join us as an Identification Unit Assistant in our Criminal Justice & Custody Department.
Are you skilled in advanced video and photograph editing techniques? We are seeking a dedicated professional to prepare computerised identification parades, contributing to crime investigations. In this role, you will produce both standard and non-standard parades, develop new techniques and versions in line with PACE and relevant case law, ensuring professional legal standards are maintained.
What you’ll do
* Prepare computerised identification parades using video and photograph in accordance with guidance and relevant case law.
* Attend court as a witness and represent Northumbria Police in court proceedings.
* Prepare computerised witness albums using video and photograph in accordance with guidance and relevant case law.
* Receive and respond to enquiries in relation to the creation of identification parades providing advice on identification processes.
* Maintain accurate records and performance data in relation to the identification process and officer participation for accreditation.
* Support the introduction and development of software/equipment to capture images or develop identification packages. Provide advice, testing and professional opinion.
