Job Advert: Facilities Maintenance Operative
Location: UK Power Networks, Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 7BG
Pay Rate: £14.91 per hour PAYE or £18.88 per hour Umbrella
Duration: 28 March 2025 to 27 June 2025
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:58
We are recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Operative to support operations at UK Power Networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for general maintenance and ensuring the facility is maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out general maintenance tasks and minor repairs
Ensure the premises are clean, safe, and well-maintained
Conduct routine inspections and report any issues
Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks
Support site management with any additional maintenance duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Manage all aspects of internal and external post on site
Provide and record inductions for contractors and visitors on behalf of the client
Liaise with the wider CBRE team and contractors to ensure reactive jobs are completed, often serving as the first point of contact for issue resolution
Undertake site inspections and raise concerns with the Regional Manager, proactively chasing any faults
Represent the Facilities Management function on site, ensuring a high level of customer service
Escalate any concerns raised by staff regarding the building or services to the UKPN team
Basic cleaning of kitchen and toilet areas, including surface cleaning, restocking consumables, and emptying bins
Perform minor fabric repairs, such as:
Tightening loose door handles and catches
Tightening or replacing toilet seats
Securing furniture fixings
Fitting or adjusting monitor arms
Conduct minor electrical tasks, including:
Replacing desktop fuses
Checking power supplies from sockets to desks
Checking distribution board breakers
Replacing lamps
Requirements:
Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance role
Good understanding of general maintenance and repair work
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
