Job Overview:
Due to business growth we’re looking for an experienced workshop and facilities manager to join our growing, agile team in Edinburgh. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys overseeing manufacturing and assembly operations, ensuring a well-organised, safe, secure and efficient workshop environment.
You’ll manage workshop activities, mentor technicians, coordinate with engineers, ensure compliance with health & safety (H&S) and security protocols, and support the delivery of installations in compliance with CDM 2015 regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
As Workshop and Facilities Manager, you will lead our team of technicians and work closely with the COO, engineering team and H&S Consultants.
Operations & Facilities Management
1. Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
2. Manage work schedules, prioritise tasks, and allocate resources efficiently.
3. Maintain inventory control, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are stocked and available.
4. Implement best practices to keep the workshop well organised, safe, secure and efficient.
Technical Leadership and Hands-on Work
1. Lead and support technicians in the manufacturing, assembly and installation of hardware and systems.
2. Work collaboratively with engineers to ensure smooth project delivery.
3. Provide and share expertise in fabrication, mechanical assembly and maintenance while coaching and supporting your team and continuous improvement in workshop operations.
4. Foster a positive, inclusive and high performing team culture.
5. Lead, mentor, and coach technicians supporting career development and training.
6. Build a positive, respectful and high performing team culture where everyone’s voice is valued.
7. Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies (HSE, COSHH and CDM 2015 regulations).
8. Work proactively with external H&S consultants to maintain best practices across the whole business, including PPE use, Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), CDM 2015 and emergency preparedness.
9. Ensure all staff feel empowered to contribute to a safe and supportive working environment.
Quality Control & Reporting
1. Ensure high quality standards in manufacturing, assembly and installation.
2. Conduct regular safety checks and quality checks to maintain excellence.
3. Keep accurate records and provide key metrics and insights to senior management.

What we offer:
1. A supportive, inclusive team culture.
2. £35k - £45k per annum depending on experience, and EMI options after 6 months.
3. 34 days annual leave (25 flexible + 9 fixed annual leave days which can either be the Scottish Bank Holidays or aligned to the school term breaks in your council area of residence.)
4. Compressed Hours (35 hr/week)
