Person Specification (Ideal, but with some flexibility) 12 months experience as a swim teacher or 6 months working as a lifeguard. Have an up to date either an SEQ Level 2 or STA Level 2 certification (or equivalent for Scotland /Wales). Lifeguards have a high level of responsibility; you’ll need a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Upward of 6 months experience working with 5 – 17-year-olds. You’ll love developing people and bring demonstrated experience in coaching or mentoring younger individuals. A collaborative attitude, comfortable with rotating duties and forming positive relationships with both children and staff. Knowledge of identifying and mitigating risks. Ability to design, plan and deliver safe, but dynamic sessions from the poolside or in the water using creative techniques that appeal to a wide age range whilst carefully considering child welfare. About the role You’ll be responsible for delivering bespoke and engaging swimming sessions for mixed ability groups with up to 16 children aged between 5-17. You’ll be focussing on building water confidence and improving swimming techniques (rather than following a learn to swim programme), all themed around fun and active games. If you're an STA or NPLQ qualified pool Lifeguard, you'll be focusing on the safety of the sessions themselves, identifying and mitigating risks, acting in the event of an emergency, performing first aid and communicating within a larger team. Safety is our number one priority. Our swim teachers and lifeguards will work alongside each other to ensure that preparation of facilities and equipment are done, incidents and risk assessments are managed, and water conditions are monitored.
