Job overview
Within commuting distance of one of our campuses in London, Birmingham, Blackburn, Doncaster, Redcar, Bradford or Bristol
The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) is a school-led and research-informed organisation operating across England providing teacher and leadership training, from initial teacher education (ITE) to a dedicated course for CEOs of multi-academy trusts. The NIoT is among the largest national provider of ITE and trains thousands of teachers a year, across four regional teams and nine campuses.
We are committed to high quality, evidence-informed teacher education, and are on a mission to improve the quality of teacher and leader development across the system. Part of this mission involves producing rigorous, impactful, and cutting-edge school-led research.
We have in-house researchers who work with our programme-delivery teams to develop and test new methodologies, address critical challenges, and meet the evolving needs of our partner schools and organisations in the wider education sector. We are currently working on eight major research projects funded by the Department for Education relating to our programmes, several smaller projects leading to rapid insights into our programme delivery, as well as leading a separate programme of research, funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
If you are driven by a passion for ensuring educational research addresses the needs of the sector – i.e., is useful and used – then we welcome your application to join our team. Together, we can shape a school system that nurtures the talents of teachers and leaders at every career stage, ensuring every child receives the excellent education they deserve.
About the Role
The Research team is recruiting a Research/Bid Manager to work with the Executive Director of Research in supporting the delivery of research projects. As Research/Bid Manager, you will work with several teams of researchers and teacher-educators who are pioneering new methods of carrying out research that is truly integrated into delivery and grounded in school contexts. This is a new and exciting approach, and you will be working collaboratively to continually evolve and strengthen how we work.
As Research/Bid Manager, you will have oversight of delivery of research projects, liaise with the Finance Team on budgets and staffing, and help implement best-practices in flexible project delivery with complex teams operating over several sites. In addition, you will support the Research and Contracts Team with bid development work to secure new funding.
This role will support the bidding process for all new opportunities the Institute decides to bid on. It will require close working with the Professional Services directorate including the COO to ensure bids are completed to a high standard and submitted on time.
This is a new, exciting and varied role that we hope you can shape with the experience and expertise that you will bring. We are a new and growing organisation: this role is an opportunity to contribute significantly to the improvement of teacher education and professional development by taking and encouraging evidence informed approaches and decision making.
Key benefits available to all staff:
* Flexible working times (core hours between 10am and 4pm)
* At least 27 days’ holiday a year (plus 8 bank holidays)
* Local Government Pension Scheme
We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, communities and industries, and are committed to employing a team that has diverse skills, experiences and abilities.
