Job Type: Contract (Inside IR35) Duration: 4 Months Job Summary: We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer specializing in HVDC Control & Protection systems. This hybrid role (3 days/week onsite) requires 9 years of experience in designing, integrating, and verifying HVDC solutions, with expertise in project leadership, automation systems, and HV/LV power systems. Candidates must have a strong technical background in global project execution and team management. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership Lead a multi-disciplinary team in designing/developing HVDC Control & Protection systems. Oversee engineering budgets, risk management, and contract compliance. Act as the primary technical interface with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Technical Execution Drive design integration for complex HVDC projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Execute testing, commissioning, and validation processes. Develop automation solutions and implement "cost-out" initiatives. Team Management Mentor engineers and foster collaboration across global teams. Motivate teams to meet project deadlines, budgets, and technical specifications. Deputize for the Engineering Manager as needed. Qualifications: Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Project Management (mandatory). 9 years of experience in HVDC Control & Protection systems. Proven track record in: Leading multi-disciplinary teams on global projects. HV/LV systems, automation, and grid-connected solutions. Managing project risks, schedules, and stakeholder communications. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Willingness to travel internationally. Desired Attributes: Certifications in project management or technical leadership. Expertise in translating customer needs into technical solutions. Experience with utility-scale power systems or renewable energy projects. Proficiency in conflict resolution and team coaching.
