About the Role
The Indigenous Engagement & Outreach Programs Officer works to engage Indigenous school students in STEM and support Indigenous students in the Faculty of Science. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator and collaborating with Murrup Barak, this role delivers programs including MISEP (Melbourne Indigenous STEM Education Program) and RISE (Residential Indigenous Science Experience), ensuring the content is engaging and culturally safe.
Responsibilities include :
* Administrative tasks including the logistics, scheduling, and collating program documents for participants and presenters / facilitators.
* Communicate with and support presenters / facilitators with details of program delivery and contributing to building a sense of community within the program group.
* Build relationships with University Indigenous student cohort, support enquiries and issues raised, and advocate for their success during their degree and beyond.
* Present and facilitate outreach programs, workshops and training.
About You
You will be a dedicated and passionate advocate for student development, particularly supporting Indigenous students in STEM. With excellent communication and presentation skills, you will also bring strong project management expertise to effectively plan and deliver initiatives.
You will also have :
* A relevant tertiary qualification, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience, education and / or training.
* Experience in effectively working with and supporting the success of students.
* Project management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
* The ability to identify points of concern, assess how they may be effectively handled, and the ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
