Commodity Buyer
We are recruiting for a Commodity Buyer on a permanent basis for our Banbury based client. Your role will be to fully support the division in its purchasing activities, meeting company goals for cost, quality, innovation, and delivery.
As a Commodity Buyer you will need to have/be:
1. CIPS membership or the appropriate business qualification is desirable
2. At least 5 years in engineering/manufacturing purchasing environment, with experience and understanding of APQP, PPAP, TS-16949, cost tracking and quotation analysis.
3. Cost improvement techniques and achievement.
4. Positive contributor to new product launches.
5. Computer literate - in particular Excel.
6. Highly developed in communication and influencing skills.
7. Negotiation skills.
8. Highly numerate.
9. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Details:
* Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
* Working Hours: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours
* Location: Banbury (onsite)

Role of Commodity Buyer:
1. Undertake supplier selection and strategy to meet business and project requirements as requested.
2. Identify business goals for cost improvement and continually strive to achieve or better that goal in a sustainable and measurable fashion.
3. Manage selected customer nominated suppliers.
4. Set and communicate supplier performance targets and requirements.
5. Establish production supply agreements to be best in class in commercial terms.
6. Develop and maintain commodity strategies for given commodities relevant to business goals.
7. Fully support the engineering change management of supplied components and materials.
8. Actively participate in continuous improvement processes - supplier quality, cost, innovation, delivery and management.
9. Where necessary take on the closure of quality issues with suppliers, supporting the relevant quality engineer.
10. Maintenance of Purchasing database, spends, budgets and suppliers.
11. Take a leading role in coordinating the activities of stakeholders to meet business improvement objectives.
12. Manage all SAP related functions relevant to suppliers/commodity.
13. Participate in continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance on safety, uptime, availability, maintenance, equipment modifications, plant, error proofing, technical systems and processes and cost down opportunities.
14. Participate in projects within the companies CIP scheme.
15. Taking fast action to reduce customer demerits and cost of quality.
16. Use consumables responsibly.
17. Comply with the principals of the company's employee charter.
18. Participate in training and development programmes and share knowledge with the wider teams.
19. Identify areas of development and training requirements.
20. Participate in the company's suggestion scheme.
21. Ensure good team working principals are being adhered by all team members.
