Job Description:
SRM are preparing for the commencement of a major programme of construction works in Port Talbot. The works will involve heavy construction/civil engineering across various industrial fronts over the next 3 to 4 years, starting with enabling works ahead of the main programme commencing Q3: 2025.
If you are a Temporary Works Coordinator with experience on large multi-million-pound projects, we have a great opportunity for you to join our Team in Port Talbot to work on an interesting, complex, and technically challenging project valued in excess of £200m.
The Temporary Works Coordinator role
* Supporting with all aspects of the design, coordination, submission, compliance, programming, and management of temporary works design, and assurance, maintaining and updating the Temporary Works Register.
* Being the first point of contact between the designers of Temporary Works and the site team/contractors.
* Coordination of all Temporary Works activities.
* Ensuring that design briefs are prepared by relevant team members, are adequate, and in accordance with actual site requirements.
* Ensuring satisfactory Temporary Works designs are completed, appropriate design checks are done, and the design is approved.
* Ensuring all appointments are in place for contractors during the construction stages.
* Pre-erection inspection of the temporary works materials and components.
* Control and supervision of the erection, safe use, maintenance, and dismantling of the temporary works.
* Check that the temporary works have been erected according to approved designs and issue a formal 'permit to load' where necessary.
* Confirm when the permanent works have attained adequate strength to allow dismantling of the temporary works and issue a formal 'permit to dismantle' where necessary.
* Ensuring that a Change Control process is in place, and any agreed changes or remedial actions are done properly and monitored on site.
* Ensuring that maintenance of the Temporary Works is properly executed or delegated to the construction team.
* Carry out regular audits or surveillance of contractor-installed temporary works.
* Technical ability to review and approve Temporary Works designs from contractors or in-house designs.
* Manage interfaces across our production and subcontractor teams.
Your profile
* You hold a current TWC CITB Certification or equivalent, and a valid CSCS card, with Contractor/Subcontractor management experience.
* You hold a degree or equivalent qualification and/or experience in an Engineering-related discipline, preferably Civil or Structural.
* You will have demonstrable experience of working at a similar level with experience in temporary works design/delivery management, ideally on large infrastructure/construction projects.
* Strong organisational skills, effective influencing, and communication skills.
* A strong collaborator and relationship builder with effective stakeholder management skills.
* Full driving licence.
