A food manufacturer based in South Lanarkshire is looking to hire an Engineering Team Leader.
The Engineering Shift Team Leader is tasked with overseeing and managing all maintenance engineering activities during their shift. This includes collaborating with the Lead Engineer to ensure maximum equipment uptime by applying high engineering standards and efficient practices while adhering to best maintenance protocols.
An essential aspect of this role is mentoring, coaching, and managing direct reports. The Team Leader models best practices and demonstrates how to execute tasks effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leading, supervising, and managing a team of engineers as they design, test, modify, and solve technical problems, with guidance from the Engineering Development Manager.
2. Supporting the Engineering Manager in implementing engineering solutions that permanently resolve breakdowns and failures, identifying and addressing root causes.
3. Assisting the Engineering Manager in optimizing uptime by ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard and within set timeframes.
4. Driving continuous improvement in planned preventative maintenance (PPM), including reporting on system effectiveness, meeting PPM targets, scheduling maintenance at appropriate times, and ensuring tasks are completed and closed efficiently.
5. Evaluating daily production line efficiency to identify required engineering tasks.
6. Taking ownership of key elements of engineering projects and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks, under the direction of senior engineering management.
7. Maximizing the efficiency of the engineering shift by providing clear instructions, guidelines, and sound engineering systems for team members.
8. Managing and developing staff daily by delegating tasks based on skillsets and ensuring equal distribution of responsibilities, with the support of the Engineering Development Manager.
9. Providing feedback to senior engineering management regarding resources or adjustments needed to enhance performance.
10. Facilitating clear communication with other shift team leaders and senior engineering management to ensure effective cross-shift collaboration.
11. Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety procedures for all engineering staff and contractors by auditing and reinforcing compliance.
12. Offering training, guidance, and support to engineers and apprentices to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Experience needed:
1. A formal engineering qualification (e.g., City and Guilds, ONC/HNC, or equivalent) or substantial experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
2. Proven experience in supervising or managing a team.
