As a Children, Young People and Families Assessor, you will assess and evaluate the competence and knowledge of learners working in residential care settings. You will support learners and employers throughout the qualification journey, delivering Level 4 & Level 5 Children, Young People & Families Apprenticeship Standards to both Levy and Non-Levy paying employers. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering training within residential care, specifically supporting 6–25-year-olds in looked after care, supported accommodation, or residential special schools. You will provide a varied programme of learning, training, coaching, and assessment to meet employer and learner needs, ensuring timely achievement of goals and qualifications as per awarding bodies and regulatory standards. The role involves a mix of 1-2-1 face-to-face and remote visits, as well as group teaching. It is a peripatetic position requiring the delivery of skills contracts across different geographical areas based on sector competence. Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Engage with employers and learners to deliver high-quality teaching and learning, meeting KPIs for starts, progression, timely achievements, and leavers, in line with compliance and quality targets.
* Deliver qualifications across a range of awards, following the Quality Assurance process.
* Maintain a caseload of learners at specified levels.
* Tailor programmes to meet employer needs, ensuring learners develop skills, knowledge, and behaviours that positively impact employers.
* Use an electronic portfolio system to record learner interventions, reviews, work uploads, and 6 hours per week of off-the-job training. Ensure accurate learner data submission to meet contractual requirements.
* Identify and address learner issues, offering support and additional learning assistance when necessary.
* Develop and use tailored techniques and resources to support learners throughout their journey toward successful qualification completion.
* Work with management to improve quality of delivery, including success rates, observations, performance management, and participating in verification visits.
* Participate in team and standardisation meetings.
* Prepare for and participate in inspections, aiming to maintain or improve standards, including ongoing CPD and maintaining occupational competence.
* Source an agreed number of learner starts each month, meeting KPIs set by the Apprenticeship Delivery Manager.
* Identify new opportunities for learner progression, maximizing direct delivery and maintaining caseloads.
* Ensure full adherence to quality and compliance processes to mitigate risks and maintain or improve the organisation's Ofsted rating.
Technical competency (qualifications and training) * Minimum of L4 in residential care or L5 or above sector based professional qualification
* D32/33/A1 or equivalent training/assessment related qualification
* At least level 4 Teaching qualification or equivalent
L2 or equivalent in Functional Skills Maths, English & ICT Experience
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a deputy manager or manager role within a residential care setting
* Experience and knowledge of delivering Apprenticeship standards
* Experience and knowledge of training and/or assessment delivery
* Experience and knowledge of End Point Assessment for Apprenticeship standards
* Experience in the delivery Maths and English
* Experience and knowledge of Government Funding streams
