Balmoral, a division of Balmoral Group, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries.
The Quality Advisor shall provide support to the business for all Quality Assurance activities working closely with Production, Projects, Clients, Contractors and/or Third Parties and Suppliers.
The job holder must be able to actively and effectively communicate at all levels across the business and demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems and contributes to the continuous improvement of our Quality management systems and processes, reporting any issues to line management as appropriate.
Main Duties And Responsibilities Of The Jobholder
* Promote the Balmoral Group core values.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of QHSE objectives.
* Establish and maintain open lines of communication to ensure objectives are met and develop good working relationships.
* Use and comply with the Balmoral systems, processes, and tools - challenge and improve our management systems, processes, and tools.
* Encourage collaboration and sharing across the organisation and communicate information, seek feedback and act accordingly.
* Actively promote and encourage continual improvement- seek best practice and identify improvements from within and externally.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
* Support the evaluation and review of client quality requirements during pre-qualification/ tender activities ensuring they are responded to in a timely manner, highlighting any exceptions and/or clarifications as appropriate.
* Support the periodic review of Project Quality Plans and/or Inspection & Test Plan templates and provide feedback to the Projects department.
* Identify, develop, and execute programmes aimed at promoting sustained Quality performance within the business.
* Provide guidance, support and training on Quality activities to internal and external stakeholders as applicable.
* Support the continued development and improvement of the quality management system and supporting applications, ensuring compliance with applicable management system requirements e.g., ISO 9001, API Q1.
* Ensure changes to Quality management systems and supporting applications are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
* Provide information, instruction and training in the quality management systems and applications.
* Coordinate the evaluation and review of process risk and identify appropriate controls to reduce the likelihood of potential process failure occurring that may adversely affect the business e.g., Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
* Ensure NCRs are investigated in a timely manner, ensuring root cause and corrective action is identified, agreed and implemented in a timely manner to prevent recurrence.
* Ensure that product identification and traceability is maintained to support Client/Project requirements.
* Ensure monitoring and measurement devices are calibrated and maintained and documented information is retained.
* Ensure damaged/faulty monitoring and measurement devices are segregated from unintended use and the repair and recalibration or destruction is approved.
* Conduct and report internal audits to verify compliance with quality management system and/or client (project) requirements.
* Provide information, instruction and training to support the execution of audit programmes including internal and/or third-party audits.
* Identify and share audit outcomes, ensuring audit findings are agreed and communicated in a timely manner.
* Identify improvements to audit programmes based on applicable business risks and opportunities.
* Support third-party audits including client and/or certification audits.
* Support the monitoring, measurement, analysis and review of quality management system performance, identifying recommendations for improvement.
* Support the communication and reporting of quality performance internally and externally, including client and project reporting requirements.
* Participate in Project Lessons Learned reviews ensuring lessons are identified, shared, communicated, and learned.

The Jobholder Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Training

Qualifications
Required:
* Internal Auditor qualification to relevant management system standard.
Desirable:
* Professional quality management qualification e.g., CQI Diploma, MSc in Quality Management.
* Professional membership e.g., CQI, or equivalent.
* Suitable sciences, engineering, or business qualification e.g., degree or HNC.
* Lead Auditor/Assessor.
Experience
Required:
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 management system requirements, and associated terminology.
* Experience in maintaining business management systems.
* Application of root cause analysis tools and techniques.
* Experience of internal and external audit activities.
* Leading root cause investigations.
* Experienced internal auditor involved in preparation and implementation of audit programmes.
* Experience of external audit activities.
* Understanding of national calibration requirements e.g., UKAS certification requirements.
Desirable:
* Leading and coordinating third party certification audits activities.
* Knowledge of mechanical/ metallurgical testing principles, e.g., radiography, NDT/NDE.
* Knowledge of relevant industry technical codes and standards, e.g., BS EN 10204.
Skills

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
* IT skilled with data input / handling experience and working with databases.

* Internal Assessor/ Auditor trained to a relevant management system standard.

* IRCA Lead Auditor/Assessor.
* Introduction to Quality Management Course.
* Recognised incident investigation and root cause analysis training e.g. Top-Set, Black-Box, Tap-Root.
