Role Overview:
We are seeking experienced Cable Technicians and Fibre Engineers to join our team for a large-scale patching project in Corsham, UK. This role involves the installation and maintenance of fibre and copper cabling in a data centre environment, and is ideal for professionals with Data Centre (DC) experience.
The project will run from 3rd March 2025 with a minimum commitment of 4 weeks, potentially extending to 8 weeks, with a demanding, fast-paced work schedule of 7 days a week for the first 4 weeks (28 days). This is an intensive project, and applicants should be comfortable with long working hours and the physical demands of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform fibre and copper cabling patching and terminations in a data centre environment.
* Ensure all work is carried out according to industry standards and safety regulations.
* Work as part of a team to deliver on tight deadlines in an efficient and safe manner.
* Support with cable management, labelling, and organisation within the data centre.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cabling and related equipment.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Shift Pattern:
* 12-hour shifts (Day or Night shifts available).
* 1 hour unpaid lunch break included in the shift.
* 7 days a week for the initial 4-week period (28 days).
Key Requirements:
* ECS or CSCS Card (mandatory to access the site).
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Cable Technician or Fibre Engineer in a Data Centre (DC) environment.
* Experience with patching fibre and copper cabling.
* Strong understanding of cabling standards and safety protocols.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
* Physically fit and able to handle the demands of working in a data centre.
* Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
* Experience with structured cabling and high-density environments.
* Knowledge of fibre optic testing and OTDR.
* Familiarity with data centre infrastructure and cabling systems.
Additional Information:
* The project will begin on 3rd March 2025, with an expected duration of at least 4 weeks, but the project may extend to 8 weeks depending on requirements.
* Transportation and accommodation (if applicable) are the responsibility of the contractor.
