Contract and Salary
* 40 hours per week to include weekends.
* £35000 per annum plus tips and OTE £10,000 in bonus.
Role Overview
As Sales Events Manager, you will lead both the proactive and reactive sales efforts across weddings, corporate functions, private events, and group bookings at The Coniston. You will be responsible for implementing strategic sales plans, managing the events pipeline, and ensuring smooth coordination and handover to operational teams. This hands-on leadership role involves directly managing the team’s performance and driving event-related revenue across the estate.
You’ll act as the link between clients and internal departments, ensuring exceptional service and commercially successful outcomes. You will also support and develop the events sales team to consistently meet performance expectations and contribute to the overall business growth.

Main Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Leadership
* Implement sales strategies that drive demand across weddings, corporate events, group bookings, and private functions.
* Identify new business opportunities and industry trends to grow the sales pipeline.
* Represent the hotel at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
* Regularly review sales activity and performance to inform future planning.
Sales Conversion and Event Management
* Oversee the end-to-end sales process, from enquiry handling to final confirmation.
* Personally manage high-value or complex bookings when required.
* Conduct detailed site visits and client show rounds, ensuring all spaces are professionally presented.
* Ensure client proposals, contracts, payments, and post-sale communications are handled accurately and efficiently.
* Drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities across all estate services.
Team Management
* Manage and develop the Sales Supervisors and wider event sales team through regular coaching and support.
* Foster a high-performing, service-led culture within the team.
* Ensure individual and team performance consistently meets business expectations.
Coordination and Communication
* Oversee the preparation of clear and accurate event sheets.
* Lead internal handovers to operations, banqueting, and F&B teams, ensuring full alignment on client expectations.
* Support operational delivery by maintaining strong communication and following up on client feedback post-event.
Commercial and Financial Accountability
* Monitor sales activity against commercial goals and adapt approach where needed to ensure targets are achieved.
* Collaborate with the Revenue and Insights Manager on reporting, pricing, forecasting, and billing accuracy.
* Provide regular insights to the Head of Sales on sales trends, gaps, and future opportunities.
Person Specification
Essential
* Strong background in event sales within hospitality or a similar environment.
* Confident managing and developing teams with a focus on outcomes.
* Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
* Commercial awareness with a strong focus on delivering results.
* Organised and calm under pressure, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
* Experience using CRM or event booking systems (e.g., Reslynx or similar).
Desirable
* Knowledge and experience across weddings, corporate bookings, and large private events.
* Understanding of hotel revenue practices and budgeting.
* Familiarity with the Yorkshire market and The Coniston offering.
