This course will give you the basic skills and knowledge to support your progression to a career in the industry. Key areas of theoretical study are: Health and Safety legislation, Working at Height, Manual Handling and industrial standards, which are aligned to a range of practical skills covering specialist cable connection, termination and essential basic fabrication techniques to meet industry requirements. On this course you will understand the different application of wiring insulation, understand the importance of earth bonding and learn how to work to British Standard Insulation under part P of the Building Regulations. You will be working in our state-of-the-art industrial standard workshops which will give you the best foundation for a career in the electrical industry.

Entry Requirements
Two GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths or successful completion of the Work Skills for Construction Programme with merit grades.
Assessment
You will be assessed on a range of practical skills with a practical end test. Additionally, students will sit a range of modular exams linked to each of the practical elements of the programme.
Career Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to a Level 2 Diploma in Electrotechnical Installation, which may then lead you on an appropriate Apprenticeship or Level 3 Diploma as a Sixth Form student. Careers that this course may lead to include self-employed electrician, building services engineer or a range of roles in the management within the construction industry.
