Family/Client Pets: Miniature poodle & two indoor cats Recruiter: Rachael (url removed) About this client/child: Sam (18) is a bright, articulate, and talented young man with a passion for wildlife photography, nature, gaming, Lego, and rap music. He is currently studying for his Photography A-Level at college, attending six hours a week. Sam has been living independently for the past year, enjoying his own space and autonomy. He has a great sense of humour but also experiences intense emotions and periods of low mood. Diagnosed with PDA, ASC, and ADHD, his biggest challenges stem from anxiety, depression, and difficulties managing demands. Sam is hypersensitive and finds it hard when he feels a lack of control Overview of role: We are looking for a compassionate Senior Support Worker or Team Leader to provide 1:1 support for Sam during the week. He has been living independently for the past year, just 10 minutes from his family home. This transition has been largely successful, giving him the space and autonomy he values. Your role will focus on reducing anxiety and promoting a sense of control, using approaches such as collaborative decision-making and low-demand environments. Thoughtfulness in communication is key, as Sam can be highly sensitive and takes things personally. Sam is a proud pet owner; with one dog and two cats he adores. Part of your role will involve assisting him in caring for them, including daily dog walks and maintaining the litter tray, while ensuring he remains in control of their care. While Sam enjoys a clean and tidy space, his anxiety and depression can sometimes be debilitating, making household tasks overwhelming. Your support with household management—with his permission and in a respectful, non-intrusive manner—will be important. As team leader you will eventually assist Sam’s parents in the recruitment of additional Support Workers and will oversee key responsibilities such as: diary management, staff supervision and appraisals and administrative duties. The shifts are flexible based on the candidate’s preference—mornings, afternoons, or a mix of both—with the remaining shift covered by a second Support Worker. Who this job would suit: We are looking for a confident, resilient, and dedicated Care Team Leader or Senior Support Worker who thrives on building strong, trusting relationships while working directly with their client. This role suits an empathetic, calm, and proactive professional who can bring stability to Sam’s life. The right candidate will be attuned to Sam’s emotions, recognising when he needs space and having the confidence to communicate that to him. Trust is crucial—the safer Sam feels, the more comfortable he will be in sharing his thoughts and feelings, reducing his reliance on his parents. A balance of outdoor enthusiasm and quiet days at home is key. As photography is Sam’s passion, you must be a confident driver, happy to travel long distances so he can explore new locations. What’s great about this job: This is a rewarding role with the opportunity to support Sam’s independence while easing some pressure on his parents. With plenty of chances to explore new places, it offers variety and adventure. The family is happy for Support Staff to use their Range Rover on duty, if preferred. Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews
