This school provides education for young people across south Somerset who are unable to access their mainstream school. This may be for social and emotional reasons, for medical or mental health reasons, or because they have been permanently excluded. They strive to ensure students are not disadvantaged, and work tirelessly to ensure that their academic outcomes and long-term life chances are not affected by attending a PRU for part of their education. THE SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT ROLE Supporting the teaching and learning of SEN pupils across the school, working with struggling pupils or those who have become stifled by the curriculum Helping them meet their potential through smaller booster groups and 1:1 sessions Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs Working closely with the SENCO to monitor and advance developments in both academic and social areas THE IDEAL SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT: You must be a patient and reliable and be able to work well in a team. It is essential you have experience working with children or adults with similar needs to those mentioned above and must be proactive in meeting students needs. We are looking for Teaching Assistants who are compassionate but confident and able to set a good example for students.
