Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Advertised Salary: £40,000 - £43,950 + car cash allowance (£5,100 p.a.) + benefits
Location: Remote, with regular travel across our regional networks required.
We have a vacancy for a self-motivated Quantity Surveyor to assist in the delivery of our Civil Engineering, Dredging, MEICA and various other contracts in England and Wales.
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to assist within our Commercial & Contracts Team in providing an independent, expert resource to oversee the commercial aspects of contracts across the Trust. The Trust carries out circa £70m per annum on civil engineering construction related projects, £10m on dredging, £7m on MEICA and various other contracts.
The majority of these are delivered under the NEC3 and NEC4, ECC, ECSC and PSC Forms of Contract through our Framework Suppliers. This role will assist the delivery teams and deal with our in-house delivery team and other contracts under various forms of contract.
Location & coverage
Our QS will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings. Travel throughout the regional waterway network will also be expected for site visits and to assess necessary improvements.
Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
As our Quantity Surveyor, you will provide a high standard of commercial expertise and support to deliver best commercial value from all Civil Engineering, Dredging and MEICA contracts. You will assist the Procurement Team with commercial support in the tendering process and report to a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial & Contracts Team.
Key accountabilities:
* Ensure that the Trusts Governance and Commercial roles are met to a high standard.
* Initiate and implement post contract supply development with internal and external partners.
* Review Cost Plus, Lump Sum’s and Target Cost’s for compliance to the Contract.
* Assist in the evaluation of Compensation Event quotations.
* Provide contract and commercial support to the Procurement Team and Contract Managers.
* Conduct audits and publish results to the Commercial & Contracts Manager.
* Support various teams with KPI assessments and report to the Commercial & Contracts Manager.
* Negotiate and agree new Star/Derived Rates on all Framework Contracts.
* Assist with the administration of annual inflation and rebates for all Contracts.
* Ensure the Trust is not exposed to unnecessary contractual risk.
* Display the Trust values and behaviours.
* Promote diversity and inclusion in all aspects of Trust life.
About you
You will be a highly organised individual who self-manages effectively to deliver to agreed deadlines. Collaboration and teamwork are essential. You will assist in the administration of all Contract and KPI rebates and ensure accuracy in administration.
Essential:
* NEC3/4 Contract experience.
* Educated to degree level B.Sc. or B.A.
* Proven post graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proven track record of successful contract negotiation.
* Highly organised with strong administration skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
* Professional Qualification RICS, CICES.
* Knowledge of other Contract Options ICE, JCT.
