About Job:
As Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the performance and safety of all manufacturing equipment in line with company KPIs and strategic projects. The most effective form of machine support can only be delivered through understanding how equipment is operated, machine performance, and the requirements and design of the products being manufactured.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Under the direction of the Lead Engineer, provide support to the manufacturing teams by:
* Ensuring strict adherence to the Company’s Health and Safety policy while championing the development of quality standards and procedures. Take ownership of tasks and proactively seek new and improved methods of operation.
* Assuming accountability and responsibility for enhancing machine performance across all aspects.
* Planning, executing, and delivering effective planned maintenance for all plant and facility equipment.
* Promptly responding to machine faults across the site as instructed by the Lead Engineer.
* Maintaining accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance activities conducted on site.
* Managing and ensuring the availability of all tooling on WorkCentres, optimizing their usage effectively.
* Overseeing the management and availability of spare machines and parts for every machine and process.
* Handling the booking in and out of stored machine spares and tooling efficiently.
* Sourcing direct spare parts or suitable alternative equivalents as needed.
* Participating in performance and improvement meetings as directed by the Lead Engineer.
About You:
An ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills, and attributes. Please note that these competencies are not ranked in order of priority.
Essential:
* Completed a recognized Engineering apprenticeship up to NC/HNC standard in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* Possesses working knowledge of electrical controls including PLCs, contactors, relays, inverters, etc.
* Demonstrates understanding of pneumatic systems.
* Proficient in MS Office applications.
* Shows ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with effective communication skills across all levels.
* Exhibits a flexible approach alongside strong organizational and time management skills.
Desirable:
* Proficient in 18th Edition wiring regulations.
* Experienced in engineering systems, particularly in planned preventative maintenance.
* Well-versed in health and safety protocols.
* Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Familiar with PUWER Regulations.
* Skilled in working within regulation-controlled environments.
* Possesses a working knowledge of ISO13485 standards.
