The post holder will practice under supervision as a trainee in Advanced Clinical Practice in general surgery as part of the Colorectal team to develop a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers. The post holder will be required to undertake and complete a programme of education to achieve a Masters level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent CAT points.
* Candidates must have GCSE(grade 4-9)/O'level(grade C-A) in Maths and English or equivalent certificate of comparability via NARIC/ENIC(for applicants whose qualifications are outside the UK) or Level 2 functional skills.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the colorectal directorate as a trainee advanced care practitioner. The role will involve working as part of the colorectal Faster Diagnostic Standards (FDS) and general surgery service and will include a mixture of clinical skills. The successful candidate will be involved in the management of patients referred with a suspicion of cancer up to the point cancer is ruled out.
They will also be involved in the management of patients with other General Surgery conditions as required and in consultation with the medical team. As a fully supervised practitioner undertake patient consultations, assessments, clinical examinations, order appropriate investigations (when trained and approved), & interpret investigation findings. The post holder will also manage the colorectal 2ww team and work with the clinical and management lead to improve clinical practice through participation in Audit and Research to maintain Trust performance.
Although the job plan on completion of the training will be individualised there is the opportunity to broaden the scope of practice to incorporate other skills.
