Join our team as a Waking Night Support Worker and make a real difference in the life of a woman in her mid-50s. She requires 1:1 support throughout the night, and this is where you come in! If you're patient, understanding, and ready to offer compassionate support during some of her most vulnerable times, this role is for you.
- Location: Newmarket, Suffolk
- Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (9pm - 7am)
- Role: Female Waking Night Support Worker
- Pay: £12.98 per hour
Your Role
This opportunity is to support an amazing woman with limited verbal communication but an incredible ability to express herself and read people well. She uses simple structured sentences, visual aids, and Makaton for communication.
As a Waking Night Support Worker, your role will be crucial in helping her through her nighttime anxieties. On particularly restless nights, she may require companionship, redirection, or simply a calming presence. You'll support her in settling back into the bungalow or engaging with her “twiddles” (small distraction toys) to ease her heightened anxiety.
She sometimes wears continence pads at night, but during heightened anxiety, she may remove them, causing discomfort and extra support needs. On such nights, your patience and understanding will be essential in maintaining her dignity and comfort.
Shift Patterns & Teamwork
Shifts can be flexible, but for waking nights, you'll work between 9pm and 7 am. The team works closely together, especially during her more anxious periods, to ensure she receives the consistent, calm, and compassionate support she deserves.
Why Join Us?
This role offers a rewarding opportunity to be part of a supportive team making a real impact. While driving isn't necessary for waking night shifts, it's important that you're able to adapt to her needs, especially during periods of heightened anxiety.
Apply now to become an integral part of this woman's support and help her live her best life.
