The appointee, together with his or her colleagues will have a commitment to the provision of consultant medical cover within the Integrated Palliative Care medical team across the sites. The posts include 10 Programmed activities (PAs) and the main commitments of this posts in the first year (subject to annualised job planning) Due to the integrated nature of the medical team, the job plans of the team will be reviewed on an annual basis, and there will be the potential opportunity to work with other aspects of the service on a rotational basis. The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover support to other services when required and undertake community visits where necessary to promote continuity of care for patients. In addition, other duties will include involvement in the education and audit program of the directorate, administration, attendance at meetings and continuing medical education. The post holder will have access to shared office space located within the palliative care team offices, with fixed and mobile telephone and computer facilities, and secretarial support from the shared administrative team for the directorate. It is expected that the appointee will participate in the current second on call medical rota on a 1:6/7 basis for weeknights and weekends.
