We are working with a successful and ever-expanding manufacturing client in the Telford area who have experienced phenomenal growth over the years. Due to this growth, they are now looking to recruit a Buyer, to support the Purchasing Manager in day-to-day Procurement activities of the site.
This role would be suitable for either an experienced Buyer with solid experience in the full spectrum of procurement, or someone who is currently in a Purchasing Assistant / Junior Buyer role but looking for an opportunity to expand their experience with support, guidance, and mentoring. This is a fast-paced, ever-developing, and forward-thinking organization which boasts an exciting customer base.
As the Buyer, you will be getting involved in:
* Assist in sourcing and procuring both production and non-production materials and services to keep operations running smoothly
* Analyse demand, generate purchase orders, and track inventory to maintain optimal stock levels in line with company objectives
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, resolve supply chain issues, and recommend solutions to the Purchasing Manager
* Support tender processes, gather data, assess quotations, and arrange product trials to secure the best terms and conditions
* Lead contract negotiations, assess and onboard new suppliers, and maintain strong supplier relationships
* Assist in developing a structured process to evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with purchasing policies
* Keep purchasing databases up to date, manage contracts and pricing records, and provide key insights to internal teams
* Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and play a key role in the successful implementation of ERP-based purchasing processes
Skills and Experience:
* Previous experience in a purchasing role from within a FMCG manufacturing environment is essential
* CIPS would be advantageous but not essential
* Previous experience of sourcing, negotiating with, and managing suppliers
* Good solid understanding of procurement processes and techniques
* Experience in roles such as Buyer / Junior Buyer / Purchasing Assistant / Purchasing Coordinator / Materials Buyer / Procurement Executive
