By joining the University of Central Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision – to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.
Computing at the University of Central Lancashire is evolving. As part of the School of Engineering and Computing, we are building on our established strengths in Software Engineering, Games/VR, HCI/UX, and Cyber Security. Our goal is to expand our student and staff community and create new opportunities in teaching and research.
About the role:
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Computing, specialising in AI/Data Science, to drive our mission of becoming a leading player in computing in the North-West region. This role is crucial for advancing our academic delivery, research, and knowledge exchange, ensuring we achieve high academic quality and maintain our reputational integrity. Your contributions will directly impact our growth and evolution, helping us to expand our influence and success in the field of computing.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our computing programs, bringing your dynamic and enthusiastic approach to foster a collaborative team environment. Your efforts will enhance the student experience and elevate our teaching standards, while also driving forward our research initiatives. This position will support your professional growth and development, offering you the chance to lead and innovate in our evolving computing landscape.
About you:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our vision of excellence in computing education and research. This position offers you the opportunity to grow and develop as an academic, building strong, co-creational relationships within our team and across the university. You will engage in multi-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships on a national and international scale. Your expertise will enhance our teaching and assessment practices, contributing to our reputation in the computing domain. By modelling professional standards and supporting an inclusive culture, you will help create an environment where both students and staff can thrive. You will have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in a STEM computing related subject and PhD in a relevant subject area. We would also welcome applications from a Maths/Physics background where the handling, analysis and visualisation of large/big data, in a computational setting applying AI/ML/Data Science is a substantive aspect of your experience.
What we can offer you:
Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.
We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
