Customer Services Assistant - Colchester Libraries

We are currently recruiting a Customer Services Assistant based within our Prettygate library in Colchester. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week and includes working every Saturday.
This role will be based at Prettygate Library and will require travel throughout the local area, including the following libraries:
* Colchester
* Greenstead
* Stanway
Due to the different areas where you may work, the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area.
The Role
You'll join a service that is undergoing change. Libraries around the UK are evolving to meet the differing demands of our customers. Your knowledge will be invaluable in supporting book circulation, issuing, and signposting customers to different services.
The Opportunity
Our Customer Service team are the face of our libraries and our driving force. To join them, you'll need to be confident helping a diverse range of customers, with demands that change daily. We have an inclusive environment - your experience, age, and perspectives are welcome in our team.
Key Responsibilities
* Helping people with empathy and patience, especially with self-service equipment.
* Arranging and conducting Rhymetime sessions for families with babies and toddlers.
* Ensuring Health & Safety protocols are followed and addressing issues proactively.
* Assisting with promotional activities to generate income and sharing ideas.
* Helping customers use the library catalogue and understand the full library offer.
* Ensuring seamless stock circulation and management.
* Using data to improve customer and staff experiences.
* Assisting with unlocking/locking up smaller libraries as a trusted keyholder.
Experience and Qualifications:
We welcome candidates with diverse experiences and qualifications. Key requirements include:
* Possession of a Driving Licence - desired
* Ability to use IT systems or learn quickly
* Customer service experience
* Confidence in engaging with customers and signposting them to services
* Enthusiasm and creativity
* Teamwork skills
