Main Duties/Responsibilities
1. Respond to Progress Leader requests and prioritise effectively.
2. Deal with student queries and respond as appropriate in a supportive manner, complying with school policy.
3. Make contact with home regarding incidents, pastoral concerns, meetings etc.
4. Support Progress Leaders in the organisation surrounding student rewards and consequences.
5. Support college expectations of behaviour, uniform and attendance.
6. Liaise as necessary with whole school teams/department staff.
7. Support Progress Leaders in collecting statements following student incidents.
8. Support Progress Leaders and the Attendance Lead in improving attendance.
9. Support Progress Leaders in managing in-year admissions.
10. Ensure that there is appropriate support in place for students experiencing bullying and friendship ‘fall out’ issues.
11. Contribute to the smooth running of the college on a day to day basis, including maintaining a high profile in the corridors between lessons, breaks and after college in addition to taking a share in routine duties and out of hours events.
12. Contribute to the efficient organisation of assemblies, including termly celebration assemblies.
13. Carry out other duties as reasonably required by the Principal.
Knowledge, Experience and Training
1. The ability to work confidentially and deal with sensitive issues.
2. The ability to promote effective safeguarding and welfare of students.
3. The ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, students and outside agencies.
4. The ability to work in a team but also independently, taking initiative where necessary.
5. A sympathetic but firm manner is required to ensure students feel supported whilst at college.
Administration
1. Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. MS Office, internet, intranet, E-mail, Arbor).
