Cardiac Division at Manchester Foundation Trust is one of the largest Cardiology centers in the UK. We are at the forefront of Research and Development and always aspire to develop new and innovative ways to care for our patient group. We have 9 cath labs located across 2 sites undertaking more than 10,000 invasive cardiac procedures including Coronary angioplasty, complex ablation procedures, device implants, and structural procedures like TAVI, Mitral Clips, ASD/PFO/VSD closures, to name a few. We provide 24/7 Primary angioplasty services to the people of Greater Manchester, East Cheshire, High Peak, and Derbyshire area.
We are looking for caring and motivated nurses to join our existing band 6 team. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to teach and nurture catheter lab nurses are essential. Candidates should be enthusiastic, able to work within a fast-moving department, and open to change.
Previous catheter lab experience is essential. Any applicant must have recent experience within a catheter laboratory setting for a relatively substantial period of time as either a Senior Band 5 or Band 6 Nurse. A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience is essential.
Our working patterns are presently Monday to Friday with occasional weekend shifts. Upon completion of your competency program, the post holder will be required to undertake some on-calls as part of our 24-hour emergency team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
1. Monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching, and supporting professional colleagues, and the provision of skilled professional leadership.
2. Work flexibly across both sites to ensure safe staffing.
3. Take part in on-call service.
4. Undertake nurse-led admission and discharge of patients attending the cardiac day lounge.
