Are you looking for a challenging role where you can make a difference? Are you ready to make a meaningful impact within the social housing space during one of the most critical periods of Birmingham's future? Already Europe’s youngest major city, and one of the most diverse in the UK, we want nothing less than to be the best.
Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority social landlord in Europe, with a stock profile of just under 60,000 properties. The Housing Solutions Service is the front door for citizens at risk of homelessness and those in housing crisis. Presently, there are many external factors affecting homelessness and rough sleeping in our city, from legislative change to the rise in the cost of living, fuel poverty and the national housing crisis. These challenges mean that we have over 5,000 families living in temporary accommodation. Our overarching strategic priority is moving people on to secure accommodation and delivering a high-quality, safe and outcomes-focused temporary accommodation service.
We are looking for a candidate to join the Temporary Accommodation Reviews Team to ensure customer and legal satisfaction throughout the review process. The ideal candidate will provide customers with a seamless, customer-centric experience while managing relationships to foster a culture of trust and openness.
Key responsibilities include:
* Recording details of the reviews.
* Responding to inquiries from third-party advocates.
* Ensuring the organisation fulfils its legal obligations to conduct inquiries into requested reviews.
* Producing and maintaining electronic records.
* Complying with relevant health and safety codes of practice and data protection regulations.
* Promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion in all areas.
All accommodation suitability reviews must be carried out according to established processes and procedures, and within the required regulatory timeframes, in line with legislative requirements.
We are particularly keen to see applications from people who have experience or an awareness of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). Experience in managing staff would also be an advantage and having good knowledge of relevant homelessness and Housing Legislation.
Key attributes for this role are:
* Possess excellent people skills to build and maintain trust with vulnerable customers.
* Ability to effectively manage difficult and demanding customer expectations.
* Ability to accurately and effectively interpret and implement legislation and make informed statutory decisions.
* Ability to interpret Health & Safety assessments and property inspection documentation.
