Evelyn Partners Data Services Team
At Evelyn Partners, we are expanding our Technology and Data Services team, investing in a large-scale modernisation programme to drive innovation and insights. We’re building a new team to enhance data modelling, reporting, AI initiatives, and cloud data platforms like Snowflake.
As part of our transformation, we’re growing our engineering and development team to automate reporting and deliver Power BI-driven insights that empower end users. This means exciting opportunities for learning, upskilling, and working with the latest technologies.
These roles can be based in Liverpool or Glasgow, with the requirement to be in the office to collaborate with colleagues twice a week.

What will you be doing?
As a QA Engineer you will support the organisation by thorough testing of business intelligence/DWH and analytical solutions developed by the Data Services team. The QA engineer will work closely with the developers and business analyst to formalise acceptance criteria, develop appropriate test cases and ultimately approve new developments for release. The QA engineer will work closely with the team to resolve bugs/issues during development.
As a QA Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
* Define test requirements from accurate analysis of business needs, develop test cases and generate test data according to the scope defined to comply with business requirements.
* Design and automate (where applicable) tests for effective testing of user stories being developed by the product team.
* Lead a test-first development method, in which the tests constructed will be used to prove the correctness of data extraction from source systems, transformation and loading for a data warehouse and to validate reports and user interfaces built using various reporting and data visualisation tools.
* Work with Business Analysts to achieve sign off from a variety of business stakeholders that the solutions have met requirements through comprehensive test results and that the completion of all test activity has been undertaken within scheduled timescales and business expectations.
* Troubleshoot issues found during testing, working closely with developers and Business Analysts to resolve and fix identified issues, or suggest alternative solutions which still meet business requirements.
* Responsible for change and release management; raising changes with IT and notifying them when changes are to be closed or of delay/issues. Carrying out code deployments to production and maintaining the test environment.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should:
* In depth understanding of data warehousing methodologies and design principles.
* Experience of ETL technical design, development and support practices.
* Extensive use of and fully conversant in Transact SQL and working in Microsoft SQL Server, building SQL scripts and using tools like SQL profiler, SQL Server Agent etc.
* Experience in using SSIS to run, test and deploy packages through environments.
* Experience in, and understanding of the project lifecycle using Agile Scrum, and experience of JIRA task management system.
* Enthusiastic and motivated personality, working as 'Team Player' in the data services team, with can-do attitude.
* Willingness to travel to different office locations as required by the role.
* Understanding of the principles of IT security and data protection.
