Team Leader - Technical Director or Associate Technical Director – Hydrology (Consenting & Environment) Location UK – Stirling, Glasgow, Horsley, Inverness, Dalry - noting 2 days in the office with team members is a minimum requirement – the Hydrology team is currently based in Glasgow and Stirling Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their Consultancy client with the appointment of a Team Leader / Technical Director to join their esteemed Environmental and Consents team. This represents an excellent opportunity to join a leading international consultancy working exclusively on Renewable Energy Projects. The role can be based from either Stirling, Glasgow, Horsley, Inverness or Dalry. Main Tasks and Responsibilities Oversee the work of the Hydrology team to monitor their workload, ensuring that Health and Safety is paramount to any works undertaken and championing high standards of delivery, technical governance to deliver optimal environmental outcomes; Manage the Hydrology team budget by providing forecasts and updated narrative as required; Represent our client as the Hydrology Technical Director / Associate Technical Director at trade events and client meetings; Provide technical governance to maintain the overall quality of the work outputs from the team and ensure they meet all relevant quality management standards, as a technical lead for peatland assessments and peatland restoration projects providing advice on onshore renewable/restoration projects; Line management of the Hydrology team staff, ensuring performance management and mentoring of team members in their career growth; Working with the relevant bid managers, own the tendering process to make sure all deadlines are met and the relevant authorisations are sought prior to any documents being released from our client Oversee the completion of all standalone hydrology tendering jobs that are won by our client; and Ensure appropriate resourcing is in place for designated team/ and each project or workstream and ensure that all relevant procedures are being followed. General Responsibilities Technical Lead Write and review technical reports and other project deliverables in accordance with our clients standards and technical governance expectations in line with client needs; Training - keep up to date with knowledge of relevant legislation, maintain knowledge of best practices within ecology/hydrology consultancy. Sharing this knowledge across the team, and drive the professional training and competencies of the Hydrology team. Gain and maintain knowledge of the onshore renewable energy industry and identify and attend training when required; Ensure client satisfaction through project communication, engagement and programme delivery; Be instrumental in improving environmental performance and developing impact assessments for a diverse range of clients; Develop innovations to increase efficiency; and Assisting the project managers to track project deliverables for the hydrology projects and technical tasks, and progressing them in accordance with scope, programme and budget. Development Strategy Support business sector development and build strong client relationships as well as developing your own internal and external network. Tendering & Business Development Support the development of client proposals, tender submissions and responses to framework requests, and the identification of potential future work streams. Working with the Director for Onshore Consenting and Environment to develop and execute the Business Plan for the Onshore Team, and the development of the strategy to deliver this. Provide project and team updates to the Director for Onshore Consenting and Environment on projects, including financial and resourcing information for the MD and Board. Training Support the Hydrology team by identifying training needs, mentoring in professional pathways, and working with the Director for Onshore Consenting and Environment to provide formal / external training requirements to maintain the technical competencies of the team.
