JOB SUMMARY As a Senior Product Support Engineer in the Product Support Group, you will provide high-level support for Coherent’s scientific ultrafast laser systems (Ti:sapphire oscillators, amplifiers, OPAs, etc.). PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Customer and Field Service Engineer Support: Advanced technical support for field issues, interface with in-house personnel; accountability for developing correction plans and driving to resolution. May involve occasional global travel to customer sites. Training: Conduct hands-on training of Field Service Engineers on procedures and techniques for servicing/installing new and existing products. Quality: Contribute to ongoing product improvement by tracking, analysing and reporting on field reliability data. New Product Introductions (NPI): Includes developing training material, pre-installation checklists, manuals and field service bulletins; provide input to service support strategy serviceability, and determination of Field Replaceable Units. Sales: Provide pre-sale technical support to Product Managers. Travel: May be up to 25%, including international. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Candidate should have an advanced technical degree (e.g. physics, electronics engineering) with demonstratable relevant professional experience. Significant hands-on experience operating, sustaining, and measuring performance of ultrafast lasers desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be self-starting, able to work independently, formulate and implement action plans. Ability to maintain focus and work under tight deadlines. Preferred Additional Skills Technical customer service experience is desirable. SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS Demonstrated problem solving and work prioritisation skills.
