Commodity Manager - Crewe - GBP45,000 + GBP307.00pm Car Allowance
Situation
Unipart Rail is part of the Unipart Group, one of Europe's leading independent logistics companies that has an annual turnover of more than GBP800 million.
Due to internal promotion, there is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, creative senior buyer to join the business as a Commodity Manager. As well as supporting the day-to-day operations of the procurement department, we are looking for candidates to bring their creative ideas to the business to help support the ongoing vision change of the purchasing department as they merge 3 manufacturing sites to one shared process.
Responsibilities will include:
* Manage the development and implementation of the procurement, Supply base, Commodity and SRM strategies targeting a smaller core supplier population delivering highly cost-effective operational excellence.
* Develop clarity on forecast sales pipeline & SIOP process; to develop agreed future scope of work and materials requirements as basis of all framework / LTA activities.
* Lead discussions with approval bodies, such as Network Rail / Quality / Engineering, for the approval of new suppliers / product groups / source transfers.
* Undertake make vs buy reviews as assigned by the Head of Manufacturing Procurement.
* For the assigned portfolio of suppliers, undertake RFQ actions, quote evaluation, cost, contract negotiation and development & implementation of appropriate Framework / Long Term Agreements with the selected suppliers.
* Participate in the development and roll out of a Supplier Open book quotation process and methods to evaluate information for negotiation leverage.
* Support the UR Bid process for assigned product areas covering the Manufacturing Division scope of activity & involvement.
* The position is critical and pivotal to the category team & the development of the supply chain focus of consumables & fasteners.

Salary: GBP45,000 + GBP307.00 per month car allowance

Agreed Criteria for candidates to secure interview:
* Senior buying experience.
* Manufacturing background.
* Strong knowledge on Engineering changes.
* Creativity and innovative skillset to bring new ideas to the business.
* SAP or alternative ERP System experience.
