Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
The Role
Due to a period of growth we have a new and exciting role for an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to join our Quantity Surveying team based out of our offices in Preston. Reporting to Project and Senior Quantity Surveyor’s you will be an integral member of the team who will be responsible for a number of administrative tasks on behalf of the Quantity Surveyors, which will support the processes of subcontracting, cost reporting, value recognition and invoicing. This is an exciting time for Eric Wright Civil Engineering and we want you to be a valued member of the team working on exciting projects and supporting our clients.
You will be involved in numerous tasks including but not limited to –
1. Assisting the commercial staff with the creation of numerous reports from the cost management system;
2. Collating incoming invoices/applications and distributing to the commercial team;
3. Issuing subcontract orders on behalf of the commercial team;
4. Liaise with subcontractors keeping communication and correspondence channels efficient;
5. Inputting of invoices for subcontractors on behalf of the commercial team;
6. Attendance to and minute taking at various commercial meetings;
7. General administration duties as required;
8. Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role;
9. Comply with Company rules, policies and procedures at all times and
10. Carry out any other reasonable tasks which may be required to enable the company to remain adaptable to changing markets and needs.
About You
The ideal candidate will have good IT skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel. It is desirable that you will be working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or are at a point in your studies where you intend to commence a Quantity Surveying degree in the next academic year.
You will have excellent communication skills both oral and written; establish internal and external relationships with ease. In addition, you will be methodical, organised and have exceptional attention to detail along with the ability to prioritise your workload and enjoy working in a busy and thriving environment.
