What skills and experience we are looking for
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Pastoral Support Lead who can work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), particularly the Access and Inclusion Leader. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Proven ability to work alongside teachers and teaching assistants to support children from Nursery to Year 6.
• Experience in employing a therapeutic approach in managing children's behaviours and emotional well-being.
• Familiarity with PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and WINE (Wonder, Imagine, Notice, Empathy) methodologies.
• Proficiency in supporting children facing social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, including emotionally based school avoidance and bereavement.
• Knowledgeable in supporting children with behaviour that challenges, using strategies that promote understanding, de-escalation, and positive reinforcement.
• Strong commitment to collaborating with parents to support children's needs, enabling a partnership that enhances well-being.
• Capability to attend and contribute to professionals' meetings regarding the support and progress of key children.
• A proactive approach, demonstrating initiative when required, and a passion for creating a stimulating learning environment.
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team, participating wholeheartedly in all aspects of school life.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to relate positively to children and adults, providing personal and social support to children and their families, including attendance at relevant meetings.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills to assist in planning tailored learning experiences for individuals and small groups.
• A caring, understanding personality with a good sense of humour, dedicated to supporting high standards and ensuring children enjoy their learning experience.
• A positive approach towards fostering an environment where all pupils are encouraged to achieve their very best.
