Job Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will manage their own case load with support of senior IBD team. They will review inpatients in our brand new hospital the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and provide support and advice on our IBD helpline.
* The post holder will run their own advanced therapy clinic.
* Be an integral part of the IBD MDT team and attend meetings twice a month, presenting patient cases and contributing towards the management plan and communicate the MDT outcomes to the patients.
* Attend the joint surgical IBD clinic which takes place once a month.
* Liaise closely with the high-cost drugs pharmacy team and the medical infusion suite for the administration and provision of immunosuppressive therapy.
* Work closely with our IBD patient care navigator to ensure effective and clear communication is provided to our patients and staff.
* Attend the transition clinics alongside an IBD consultant at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Candidate Profile
Our team are looking for someone hardworking, motivated, and enthusiastic who works well within a team. Our aim is to develop your current skills and knowledge so you become an independent practitioner in managing patients with IBD. Future goals include undertaking a course to become a non-medical prescriber and work towards an advanced care practitioner role.
Additional Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will provide support and advice to other health care professionals including nursing staff, students, medics, and other staff as required.
* Involvement in providing teaching to various allied health care professionals.
* Attend IBD study days to increase the current knowledge and skills.
* Provide support and advice to our medical infusion suite and work collaboratively with our high-cost drugs pharmacy team.
* Participate in our IBD service development meetings which take place twice a month and bring ideas to the department to improve and expand our current SWBH IBD service.
* Act as a link role to either facilitate early discharge of IBD patients or aim to prevent admissions to hospital by managing the patients in a timely manner as an outpatient and providing support and advice to them.
* Mentor and be part of training for future IBD CNS band 6 posts.

Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), has recently opened in October 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first-class, purpose-built premises with state-of-the-art technology. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.
