Role specifics: You must be aged 18 or over to apply.
The Role
The recycling and waste service at Bolton Council is looking to appoint 13 x Refuse Loaders.
Working across a range of waste streams (general waste, recycling materials, food waste, and garden waste), you will be expected to safely operate mechanical lifting equipment, manoeuvre heavy objects, walk long distances, educate residents, and continually improve round efficiencies and drive performance.
Working as part of a team, you will deliver Bolton’s bin collection service to householders across the borough. You will help to improve recycling culture, increase recycling rates and reduce litter on our streets.
About You
You will be professional, organised and meticulous in your approach. Previous experience is not necessary, but you’ll need to be able to follow instructions and work to strict deadlines.
You must be happy to work in all weathers, with a high level of physical fitness. You must be capable of walking in excess of 10 miles per day and able to manoeuvre heavy objects.
You will be task focussed and motivated to get the job done. You will be expected to champion recycling, support continuous service efficiency and work as a team to ensure all scheduled work is completed. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as operations commence early each day and on Bank Holidays.
You will be working in the community, so a high level of customer care and ability to influence recycling behaviours are essential.
