Nursery Chef / Cook Location: Hackney E9 Salary: £25,300.60 per annum Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) Monday to Friday About the Role: Our client, a well-established nursery in Hackney, is looking for an experienced Nursery Cook to join their team. The nursery provides full-day and sessional care for children aged 6 months to 5 years and operates 51 weeks a year. The cook will be responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for up to 100 children daily, ensuring high standards of hygiene and food preparation. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to prescribed menus, catering to children's dietary needs. Order, collect, and record food supplies from central stores. Safely use kitchen appliances, including cookers, deep-fat fryers, mixers, and kettles. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene by thoroughly cleaning equipment, utensils, and work areas. Assist in achieving and maintaining high health, safety, and hygiene standards. Flexibly support other areas of the nursery if needed.Requirements: Strong experience in meal preparation in a nursery or childcare setting. Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering is essential. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or similar is preferred. Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prepare meals for large groups of children.
