Job Description: Portering Services Officer Cromwell Hospital, London SW5 0TU Permanent Up to £27,000 Full time - 37.5 hours a week (Shifts are Monday to Sunday between 7am and 8pm with various shift patterns available) We make health happen. As a Portering Services Officer, you’ll respond to all portering requests to support the hospital’s operational functions. You will also interact with patients, consultants, staff and visitors with the upmost professionalism, embedding a world class service. You’ll help us make health happen by: Ensure you present yourself for duty in a timely manner and are dressed and equipped to maintain and always display the highest professional standards. To professionally undertake patient transfers and movements, via wheelchair, trolley and bed when required. To carry out regular and documented cleaning and maintenance of department equipment used, to include wheelchairs and trolleys. To perform the change of all medical gases as and when required and store empty cylinders in the appropriate area and keep the cylinder log updated. Deliver and collect internal post and small deliveries to and from the Hospital to the offices based on High Street Kensington during working hours. The specific days will be in accordance with business requirements. Promote, support and encourage the seamless flow of information both to and from the portering team and the wider hospital. Investigate any patient complaints relating to provision of portering services. To carry out ‘ad hoc’ duties as requested by the Lead Porter or other senior such as moving medical/hospital equipment, furniture, boxes with general office content. Due to the nature of the hospital industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules, involving a combination of daytime, evening/night-time, weekend, and Bank Holiday working so as to deliver consistent standards of service at all times. Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: Porter experience in a Hospital or Hotel setting Assertive and able to deal with conflict Good communication and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent telephone manner Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Able to work on own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines. Good timekeeping Presentable and professional Experience of delivering customer services to an exceptionally high standard Able to empathise with patients and demonstrate genuine care.
