This is a rare & exciting opportunity for an IT professional to join our IT tech team. The post holders will work within a tech family who have a wealth of skills and knowledge in a varied technical landscape that helps deliver the council's core service to the citizens of Leicestershire. The in-house team looks after everything from base infrastructure, security, networking, desktop design, configuration & deployment through to on-prem/cloud infrastructure solutions.
About the Role
You will be part of a large IT technical function ensuring efficient and reliable running of the Council's technology solutions, systems, and infrastructure. You will work with internal colleagues, external partners, and suppliers to get the best out of existing technology investments. You will own and lead the day-to-day operation, administration, and support of key tech-stacks within your remit.
We are looking for a talented, forward-thinking individual to help shape and strengthen our IT systems and services as we continue our IT maturity journey. You will be working within the Infrastructure Services sub-team, primarily in a perimeter security/firewall technologies role, but with occasional work in other areas as needs arise.
About You
To apply for this post, you must:
1. be qualified to NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) or come with proven substantial IT experience with evidence of operating at a practitioner level (SFIA level 3) in a large IT environment
2. have experience in installation, configuration, and administration of firewall technologies and other security platforms
3. have experience of working with network security solutions and be aware of vulnerability and threat management best practices and cyber security principles
4. have experience of working with and administering Windows & Linux operating systems both on-prem and in the cloud
5. be experienced in working as part of a technical team, with the ability to communicate complex issues both verbally and in written format in a concise and easy-to-understand manner at all levels
6. possess excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines and be able to work systematically whilst remaining calm under pressure
7. have appropriate travel arrangements to attend the permanent office location on a weekly basis
