Job Summary
The successful candidate shall be responsible for managing the day to day running of civil engineering projects as part of a team and work alongside and managing other engineers to deliver projects and team administrative tasks as required. They will be assuming a pivotal role within a growing civil engineering team and have responsibility for implementing the teams QA/QC procedures, project management tools as well as helping to grow the business.
The opportunity is to become an influential member of the team and deliver projects of varying size for large master planning projects to site wide basement projects covering all aspects of building related infrastructure. We are also involved in some large scale international work and are looking to expand in these areas of work.
The successful candidate should have at least 5 years' experience with a proven track record of managing and delivering all aspects of Civil engineering projects within a consultancy. The candidate must be chartered or working towards chartership with their preferred institute.
Qualifications:
Industry relevant Bachelor's degree/Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or internationally equivalent qualification.
General Responsibilities:
1. Client facing role attending client and design team meetings
2. Will be responsible for running their own projects managing time and resources
3. Will have responsibility for producing civil engineering designs under minimal supervision
4. Will have responsibility for mentoring and training graduate engineers
5. Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own work and others work
6. Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines
7. Manage internal team processes such as resourcing, QA/QC, Team Standards
8. Responsible for the production of routine letters and/or reports and other documents from standard templates
9. Responsible for the effective organisation of information and documentation, e.g. filing, QA etc.
10. Represents the group/ office/discipline/ profession at internal and external meetings
11. Executes responsibilities as outlined in the firm's Management System
Software Capabilities:
1. AutoCad
2. AutoDesk Civil 3D
3. MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow
4. Autodesk Autotrack
Discipline Responsibilities:
1. Drainage design to schemes in an Urban or Greenfield setting including sustainable urban drainage and hydraulic modelling.
2. Have awareness/experience with Section 102 and 104 adoptions, 106 connection application and 185 diversion works.
3. Liaising with Statutory bodies including Thames Water, The Environment Agency on matters pertaining to the development.
4. Should have in depth knowledge of:
* Design and Construction Guidance (Sewers for Adoption 8th)
* National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)
* Approved Document H
* BS EN 752
* Highway infrastructure design and adoption with particular attention to levels and drainage.
* Liaising with the Council Highway agencies on highway issues pertaining to the development.
1. Have experience of most of the following: Section 38 adoption and 278 works.
2. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
3. Road markings and Signage
4. Liaise with other Designers/Drafters activities as required
5. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment for simulation purposes and to prepare engineering design documents
6. Research design options and document findings
7. Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters
8. Undertake liaison and coordination with other designers, including architects, and other engineers to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic and concept of the construction.
9. Undertake liaison with construction contractors to maintain the principles of the design in the works that are carried out.
