Description Client Services Delivery is the main operational delivery division within Social Security Scotland. Our teams deliver a wide range of benefits and services to those most in need across Scotland. This includes people on low incomes, disabled people, carers, young people entering the workplace and to help people heat their homes. The Business Support Team delivers high quality support to the divisional Senior Management Team and operational support to the wider division. This includes—but is not limited to—secretariat support, oversight on budget management, governance, co-ordination of recruitment and workforce planning activities, internal communication, and ad hoc activities to ensure our front-line delivery teams can remain focussed on clients. Reporting to the Operational Support Lead, the post holder will be responsible for a wide range of business activities, including delivering high quality support to the Deputy Directors. This can include collating briefings or updating documents such as Business Plans or submissions, all of which require a high level of collaboration across the division and wider stakeholders, often with tight deadlines We are looking for a Business Support Manager who is confident, adaptable, flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to contribute ideas to innovate, implement, and improvements in the service the team provide. You need to be able to work independently to deadlines, manage your own time and others to meet challenging and competing demands and deliver high quality work whilst doing this. This role will have several direct line management and countersigning responsibilities. Responsibilities Responsibilities • Team Leadership: Manage a team of Business Support Officers directly and provide countersigning support for several A band staff, overseeing their development and growth. • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with the Deputy Director and Senior Management Team, ensuring each branch of the division receives the right support. • Business Support Development: Lead the Business Support Team by equipping them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to provide an effective operational business management function. Create a work plan and set/monitor objectives. • Internal Communication: Support the delivery of the divisional internal communication plan. Produce, deliver, and present high calibre written communications, which meet the needs of different audiences. • Corporate Assurance: Coordinate activities with corporate teams and support the maintenance and development of the division’s Business Plan, Business Continuity Plans, and strategic documents. • Operational Reporting: Oversee the division’s response to key business activities such as Audit Scotland, iTECS, working with the Parliamentary Team to support ministerial briefings, and First Minister’s Questions. • Financial Oversight: Manage financial payments on behalf of the division, acting as a PECOS/SEAS approver with delegated budget authority for the approval and analysis of Purchase Orders, ensuring individual monitoring of each expenditure item.
