We are looking for a Health Safety and Environmental Officer for a 6-month fixed contract to oversee all aspects of health, safety, and welfare for our social housing client, ensuring compliance with internal processes, relevant standards, and regulations. This role will cover central functions and direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Development and delivery of HS&E Policy and Strategy to ensure compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation including the Construction, Design and Management Regulation (CDM).
2. Leadership to the Group to ensure both general and construction-related Health, Safety and Environmental advice, support, and information is available to all stakeholders.
3. Establishing strong working relationships with the Senior Management Team and Group's Operational H&S plans through business partnering and provision of specialist and technical support.
4. Managing development, implementation, and continual review of the ISO Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management system certification in line with legislation, best practice, audit, and assessment requirements.
5. Ensuring the H&S team is effectively managed and resourced in order to suit the flexing needs of the company.
6. Ensuring all company members are aware of all current and potential future legislative requirements and maintain its legal obligations with regards to HSE matters.
7. Promoting and developing a positive H&S culture through positive reinforcement and behavioral-based safety.
8. Undertake site safety visits and audits to ensure prevention and reduction of accidents and injuries, providing performance improvement feedback as required.
Requirements:
1. NEBOSH Qualification
2. Chartered member of IOSH (or working toward)
3. Good standards of education to degree level
4. Full UK Driver's license as company vehicle and fuel card provided for site visits.
Desirable:
1. Supervisory CSCS card
2. Environmental management qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent)
3. Lead auditor qualification
4. Certified or incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS/IMaPS)
5. SMSTS
