The Executive Support Unit at Thanet District Council is looking to recruit a highly organised and flexible Executive Support Officer. The role will require you to work both independently and as part of a team, delivering a high-quality administrative support service to Directors and Councillors. As an Executive Support Officer, you will also be responsible for administering customer feedback, dealing with both complaints and compliments across all Council services. An excellent knowledge of office practices and procedures and a good general understanding of the role of local government is required. An awareness of the role of the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman and Data Protection Act would also be beneficial. The successful applicant will need to be able to meet deadlines, plan, prioritise, and organise a varied workload amid conflicting demands, filter information, and assess priorities while working within a very busy office environment. Excellent IT skills including experience of Google docs, slides, and sheets or equivalent and e-mail and calendar packages, including good diary management skills are essential. Experience of providing administrative and secretarial support at director or senior executive level is required, as is experience in dealing with complaints both on the telephone and in writing. Thanet is a great place to live and work Our historic seaside towns of Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs and surrounding villages are rich in heritage and opportunity. With 19 miles of stunning coastline, our beautiful Blue Flag beaches, the internationally renowned Turner Contemporary, and the UK’s only Royal Harbour are all just a short train ride from central London thanks to the high-speed rail link. Our proximity to the port of Dover and the Eurotunnel at Folkestone mean Europe is literally on our doorstep too. All of this, combined with a flexible approach to work, makes it an exciting time to join Thanet District Council. We have set our sights high. We want our residents to enjoy the highest-quality services. We want to ensure that by listening to local people, working in active partnership, and doing things in an innovative way, we can accelerate improvement to meet the challenges ahead.
